I usually avoid showing anyone that I was indeed in the military, but sometimes I would like to remind everyone that basic training was simple. Not the easiest thing in the world, but if you can play Simon Says and follow the dumb-ass TI’s rules—you are set. There will always be dummies and clowns that will eff you up even though you don’t associate with them, but they will always say it is your fault for not being a fellow airman and not telling them what’s up. Nevertheless the two or so months that you don’t get to see family and friends will make or break you to a whole new level. Letters are the support system. Make sure you tell your loved ones to be willing to keep up with letters and possible phone calls. Luckily we were able to use our cell-phones or else it would have been a bitch to memorize numbers.
